How to fix “You cannot start application QuickBooks Sync Download Tool from this location because it is already installed from a different location” error?

Usually, this occurs when the Sync Download Tool has not been installed properly. You will need to first uninstall the tool. To do that, go to your computer’s Control Panel, Program and Features, select QuickBooks Sync Download Tool and click on Uninstall. Once you have finished uninstalling, just follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to QuickBooks under Setup in the Sidebar.
  2. Click on the button Download TimeRewards Sync Tool.

This will reinstall the tool for you.
